S. Korean Bank to Inaugurate a Representative Office in Iran


Coinciding with the visit of South Korean President and delegation to Iran, the first representative office for South Korean Woori Bank was inaugurated today with the presence of Mr. Kamyab, the vice-governor for Foreign Exchange Affairs in the central bank of Iran.


According to CBI PR dept, this is the first time a South Korean bank establishes an office in Iran. After the Implementation of JCPOA and thorough assessment and approval of South Korean requests by the Central Bank of I.R.Iran, Woori Bank office initiated its operations on Monday.
In the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Kamyab expressed his contentment and referred to Iran and South Korea banking relations even in the sanction era. "Iran and South Korea have an extended historical bond and there are a lot of cultural similarities", he added, "With Sanctions lifted, certainly more steps will be taken in order to develop more partnerships."



"Establishing a representative office in Iran would help to boost Iran-S. Korea banking ties and definitely will encourage Woori Bank to open a bank branch in Tehran." said Kamyab, the vice-governor for Foreign Exchange Affairs of CBI.

Kamyab pointed to CBI's support of developing banking ties between Iran and South Korea and said:" Iranian and S.Korean officials are determined to expand co operations and the trade volume between the two countries; therefore, we must pave the way for development of banking ties."
