Iran , Ecuador sign Banking MoU


QUITO - The central banks of Iran and Ecuador agreed on opening accounts on local and euro currencies and made arrangements for establishing correspondent relations between commercial banks and issuance of letters of credit which would serve the interests of both parties and provide the possibility to open credits.


According to CBI PR dept, on the sidelines of the visit by Iranian economic delegation consisting of officials from the Central Bank, the Iranian Export Guarantee Fund, the Export Development Bank of Iran, Ministry of Petroleum and other commercial and economic activists to Ecuador, both countries reached agreement on banking cooperation. The delegation was headed by Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Iranian Foreign Minister.
 


 

During this trip and based on negotiations between the officials of the two countries' central banks, both parties discussed the ways of establishing mutual banking relations. Accordingly, a comprehensive MoU in banking and an agreement in interbank payments were signed between two the central banks.
These cooperation documents were signed by Hussein Yaghoubi, the CBI general director of international affairs and the chairman of the board of the Central Bank of Ecuador with the presence of the foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif.
