Iran, Kyrgyzstan to expand Banking Co-op

 


TEHRAN (CBI PR dept) - On the sidelines of Iranian President's visit of Kyrgyzstan, Valiollah Seif, CBI governor met Tolkunbek Abdygulov Sagynbekovich, the Governor of the National Bank of Kyrgyz Republic and discussed expansion of mutual co operations.


In this meeting in which Gholamhossein Shafei, the President of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture was also present, the two central bankers talked about issues such as forming banking liaison in order to increase trade turnover and expand using the national currencies of the two nations, Rial and Som, in bilateral collaborations.

Seif pointed to the new outward expansion approaches adopted by I.R Iran after the implementation of nuclear accord in January, particularly with the northern neighbors like Kyrgyzstan and said: "It is necessary to focus on the problems and concerns of numerous businessmen and entrepreneurs of the two countries and provide every required condition to facilitate bilateral trade. Our central banks can facilitate fund transfers and settlement of trade dues via arranging for a banking MoU between the central banks."
Also during this meeting, Abdygulov Sagynbekovich emphasized willingness of Kyrgyzstani Central Bank to develop co operations with CBI and added: "Accompanied by an envoy of Kyrgyz banking executives, I will travel to Tehran next month to meet the representatives of Iranian banking network in order to review our options on advancing our mutual cooperation."
